Default Can I use a SIP Softphone with VYLmedia?

Is it possible for a VYLmedia account holder to connect a SIP softphone (e.g. Express Talk) to VYLmedia? It would be sufficient just to be able to use the dialer to dial out... i.e. if I can't receive calls to the softphone, that's OK. (Windoze can be configured to use softphone for click-to-dial)

I have tried using Express Talk (NCH Software). Configuration options are as follows:

Display name
Server (SIP Proxy or Virtual PBX)
SIP Number (or username)
Password

Apologies if this is a ridiculous question... I know enough about telephony and VoIP etc. to know that it might be possible or it might be crazy!!

If it's not possible with these configuration parameters, but you know of another SIP Softphone that can be configured to use with VYLmedia, please advise.

Thanks very much,

Hello,

You certainly can use a softphone with our service. The settings it's asking for try:
Display name - Whatever you'd like
Server (SIP Proxy or Virtual PBX) - 216.143.130.36
SIP Number (or username) - Your VYL username case sensitive.
Password - Your VYL password case sensitive.

If this doesn't get it to register than we do have a softphone that we know works. It's a free version called X-lite. You can download it here:
http://www.vylmedia.com/x-lite.php

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any difficulties or questions.

Thanks,

Allen

Default Resolved!!

Thanks very much, Allen! The kicker was using the IP address in the "Server" entry.

Funny thing tho', I had my system's Mute on, so I couldn't hear anything... I was trying to debug that myself based on other forum entries and my router's Port Fwd'g, etc., etc., when I noticed the little red slash thru the speaker in my systray. Unmuted it and it works great!
