Me again.....my son tells me that ever since the SP2102 was installed, he loses his xbox connection to the internet every 10-20 minutes. This is happening both in the living room (powerline connection to the router) and his bedroom (hardwire to router via switch). Any ideas?

MadMac,
It has something to do with the adapter. I have reconfigured it, please unplug power to the device and plug it back in. Once the device has power again it takes around 5 minutes to download the new changes. After that you should be set. No more disconnections! :)
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
Thanks,
Allen

Allen,
Thanks for your assistance with this. I'll try that when I get home later today. You certainly don't get this kind of service from the phone company!

Are you using a Netgear router?
BTW - Posts must be approved before you can see them on the forum. Just letting ya know!

Yep. it's a Netgear WGR614 v7! Do I need to go shopping :)?
BTW, what was happening with the posts is that I was using the quick reply and the post would appear in the forum, but it would disappear in a couple of minutes. When I used the "regular" reply, I got the normal "all posts need to be approved" message.

MadMac,
The only routers to cause conflicts with our adapter is in fact the Netgear brand. The only resolution I know of is to upgrade your Netgear firmware to the latest version. This does not work for everybody, unfortunately.
If it continues to cause a problem, you can either:
A) Go shopping! :p
or
B) Place our device behind your Netgear router.
Whichever you'd prefer.. You know, as long as there are no gaming interruptions! :D

I think it's shopping time! I tried placing the SPA 2100 behind the router, and while it worked, it was very "echoy" (if that isn't a word, it should be!).
Any particular router brand you'd recommend?

..Alright. Very interesting! I made some more adjustments to the box, please continue using the new Linksys router, but go ahead and unplug the power to our device and plug it back in. Then go ahead and test your connection again.
Thanks,
Allen

Well, some progress.....it's now going some 15-20 minutes before disconnection. I've asked my son to try it for a while today and log what happens, I'll report back later.

What's being seen is disconnection every 15-20 minutes. I did find a loose connection at my cable modem yesterday evening which was affecting the internet connection. It's now tightened up, so I'll reinstate the SPA "in-line" and do some more tests.

My son is having the same problem with Xbox 360 disconnectiing every 20 minutes.

Mjdm,
I can reconfigure your adapter as well to correct that, it looks like you're also using the X-lite softphone. Please unplug the power to our device and plug it back in. Once you do that, send me a PM. I can only look at the last registered device with us, so this will help me out.
Thanks,
Allen

Pardon my ignorance, but what's an X-lite softphone?

Progress report from the front line.....Xbox still disconnects every 15 minutes, can pretty much set your watch by it. I experienced the same thing myself with "Company of Heroes" on the PC, and I'm told by one of my son's friends that the "Second Life" sim did it here too (we asked for volunteers to assist in testing!). It's as if anything with a heavy traffic load gets "throttled". Regular internet browsing/surfing doesn't appear to be affected.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's an X-lite softphone?
It is software that you download onto your computer, so you can utilize VoIP and make local and long distance calls through a microphone and speakers or headset on your computer. Instead of using the analog phone adapter we provide, you can use this softphone-say on a wireless connection in a hotel or just your home office.
If you would like to check it out you can get it here -

allen, as requested I powered down and back up the VOIP box.
Allen, have you reconfigured by unit?
