View Full Version : Tivo Series 1
I have a Tivo Series 1 DVR which uses a modem to download the service information (updates, television guides, etc..) and I can not get the device to work using the VoIPYourLife phone connection. My device is the SPA-2102, are there any settings that will allow a better connection using the modem/fax protocol?
Thanks for your time.

Ken,
Unfortunately it is not 100% compatible with the DVR receiver. We can try to make a change with the device by contacting customer service and asking for a fax configuration, but when dealing with the DVR signal we have not seen much improvement. However, I have been informed by a customer that they could not communicate with their DVR. After upgrading their DVR receiver to the latest firmware the communication started working and works for them about 90% of the time. This was a huge improvement so I would definitely recommend you to ensure the box is upgraded to it's latest software.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions or comments.
Thanks,
Allen
I will call about the fax configuration. If my Tivo isn't on the latest firmware, there is nothing that I can do about it since the only connection it has is a RJ45 modem. A series 1 doesn't have the network ports like later models. :( Thanks for your help!
For anyone else having this problem with a Series 1, I have a computer next to the Tivo and I ordered a serial cable from Tivo and I now use PPP over the serial connection to connect to the Tivo network. The cable from Tivo, a gender changer and a null modem connector and following the instructions from http://www.tivohelp.com/archive/tivohelp.swiki.net/45.html fixed my problem.
