Hello!

I am new to the voip world and am interested in setting up a Asterisk Server. I have the software installed and running on a machine sitting behind my router. The soft phone registers and works on this machine, which is behind the same router. I should also add I did not have to open or forward any ports to get the soft phone up and running.

I saw the post earlier with the settings for the trunk setup so I put those in and also forwarded the following ports to that machine:

10000-20000 UDP
5060 Any
16000-16500 UDP

With the setup that I just explained the FreePBX server is saying the SIP trunk is unregistered. So here are my questions:
_________________________
In OUTGOING SETTINGS

allow=ulaw
type=friend
canrenvite=no
-> context=from-pstn
what is the pstn context and how is that different
then something like "from-trunk" or "from-sip
external"
insecure=very
->defaultip=sip.voipyourphone.com
->fromdomain=sip.voipyourphone.com
->host=sip.voipyourphone.com
In any of these three should I have the LAN gateway address?
->username=Your Username
->authname=Your Username
->fromuser=Your Username
"Your Username" is the actual username and not the tele-number, correct? Also, is the Username case sensitive? IE Vyluser and vyluser would not be seen as the same.
secret=Your Password

Any insight as to why this trunk is not registering would be appreciated. As I said earlier I am new to this and any help/tips/advice as to how to get this up and running would be fantastic =o)

Dan:

Your settings are correct! You are also correct in your assumptions that username and password are case sensitive. Check these settings as well:

Register String
username: password@sip.voipyourphone.com/PrimaryNumber
For Example
Voipuser: mypassword@sip.voipyourphone.com/4055551212

If everything matches you might be having a firewall or port issue. If you call into customer service we can check the status of your attempt to register and that should give us a better clue to the problem you are having.

On the firewall settings, we've seen some problems with the port range. Although the device uses 16384-16482, Linux may not like breaking up the 10000-20000 range. Since you already have it covered, I would omit 16000-16500 UDP.

Well I have given up on the FreePBX/Asterix server and have moved to the 3CX application for windows. I have everything working great! It's registered, extensions work, etc...

However, I am trying to setup the SPA2102 to be an extension as well. In order to do this I need the administrator username and password. My last call the tech would only give me the normal username and password (which doesn't give me access to the settings I need). Can someone send me the admin username and password please? Private message would be fine.

Thanks! I'm going to try calling your guys again.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,

You will need to call customer service to accomplish this.

Thanks,

Dan,

I recently switched to 3CX also, extensions are registered and can call each other, I added VYL as a VOIP Provider and it's registered properly too. The only issue I have is taht I cannot make outbound calls. I have a Linksys WIP330 and when I set it up directly to VYL it works fine. When I try to make any calls (wip330 or softphone) I just get a busy on one and an error on the other. I think it's my outbound call rules, can you post that part of your config so I can compare?
