I have two issues that I'm hoping I can get some feedback on.

The first one is that I get frequent dropped calls. VYL tech support is putting the blame on Verizon (FiOS) for dropped packets and of course Verizon blames the VOIP saying they don't see a problem. Has anyone had a similar issue?

The second issue is with conference calls. When I'm on a call and someone else it talking I'm unable to talk and have them hear me. This is most frustrating on conference calls there there is a lot of talking and background noise on the other end. Has anyone else heard of this one?

Bwolfe:

It sounds like you are having a firewall or port problem. Are you using a Westell modem/router? We have had a few problems in the past with these devices.

To address both problems, let's start by enabling port forwarding on your device for the following ports:

3478 (UDP)
5004 (UDP)
5060-5064 (UDP)
16300-16500 (UDP)

Although I cannot assist you with your specific device, I can direct you to a helpful website that can walk you through port mapping for your unit or you can give Verizon tech support a call.

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Once you enable the port mapping, please either give us a call in customer service or post back with the results.
