View Full Version : Virtual number selection

When I signed up for VYL, I was allowed to pick my primary number's area code, prefix, and the last four digits from a list. The virtual number selection process lets you pick an area code and prefix, but the last four digits are assigned automatically. This makes it difficult to find a virtual number that's easy to remember. (In particular, one of your prefixes in an area code I want matches my current cell phone number, and I am wondering if the last four digits matching my cell phone is available - it would be nice to have the same number, just different area code.)

Do you have any plans to change the virtual number selection process to allow users to view or select the last four digits? Would customer service be able to get me the exact number I want?

There are no plans to change it. We let people pick the first number from a list, but assign virtual numbers based on whatever is next. That keeps people from snagging all the good numbers.

The folks in customer service do have the ability to find and enter specific numbers. Give them a call and let them know what number you are looking for. If it is available, they can add it to you account.

Thanks,

Dennis

1. You live in NY and you have family who resides in Florida. You set up a local phone number inside of Florida that is tied with your account. Your family can dial that local number and reach you and no long distance charges.

2. All your numbers are tied together and they will not ring independently.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

Thanks,

Allen
