View Full Version : X-Lite message:The person you are calling is unavailable. Please try again

My son who's traveling overseas, installed X-lite on his laptop using our VOIPYOURLIFE account settings in order to stay in touch. When the application starts, it appear to get a connection. When clicking on the speakerphone....he gets a dial tone.
However, after he dials a number, any number, there is a long silence.....and after a while he gets a message that says "The person you are calling is unavailable. Please try again". Needless to say that he tried calling multiple different and, everytime, the result is the same. Of course we checked the account settings he's been using against the one we've been using in the US, they were identical.

I appreciate your help.

I had the same problem when I used it with a wimax service at my cottage. After lots of investigations, I found out that the ISP didn't support the SIP protocol used by XLite or VYL. They only supported H323, which, not surprisingly is the protocol used by their own VoIP service.
They have recently changed the policy, support SIP, and XLite now works.
I could not find any workaround if the ISP doesn't support SIP. The ISP help desk may/may not even be aware of the issue.
